Alameda Citizens Task Force Supports Sweeney Park

ACT meeting January 16, 2013

On January 16, 2013, the Alameda Citizens Task Force (ACT) presented Jim Sweeney and Dorothy Freeman discussing the Beltline: Jean Sweeney Open Space Park. The presentation was to inform Alameda citizens of the planned Recreation & Parks meetings to help plan the design for the Jean Sweeney Open Space Park. Link to a video of the presentation here....

In a 2009, the Alameda Public Affairs Forum honored Jean Sweeney. Mrs. Sweeney talked about the years of effort she put into protecting the 22 acres of Beltline Railroad Switching Yard as "Open Space" and a future park for Alameda. An audio section from the forum was presented at the ACT meeting and is included in the video.

The video also includes a protion of the Alameda City Council Meeting where Jean Sweeney's family was presented with a proclamation naming the park to be created at the Belt Line Switching Yard as the Jean Sweeney Open Space Preserve"

The Jean Sweeney Open Space Committee would like to thank The Alameda Public Affairs Forum for honoring Jean at the 2009 forum, Alameda Citizens Task Force for sponsoring the Jan. 16th presentation, and Joseph Woodard Multimedia for audio recording, video filming and production.
